Join us for a programme of exhibition guided tours, lectures and practical artworkshops programmed in partnership with Berwick Educational Assocation, as part of our exhibition 'Drawn from Life: People on Paper'.

Exhibition guided tours

2, 7, 16 Nov and 8, 14 Dec 11 -12pm

22 Nov 1-2pm

Tours will be led by Prof Maria Chester. Meet in the foyer of the Granary Gallery 5 minutes before the start of the tour. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes, with an extra 15 minutes for questions, so allow one hour for your tour.

If you wish to be sure of a place, please book online. Otherwise, just turn up on the day.

Lecture: A Brief History of Drawing - From Cave Art to Banksy

Wednesday 22 November 10-12pm

The Maltings Theatre & Cinema

Join Prof Maria Chester for a whistle -stop tour of the history of drawing, followed by a comparison and analysis of some of the drawings by 20th century artists such as David Hockney, Lucian Freud and Henry Moore currently on display in the exhibition.

Free drop-in art workshop open to all ages

Saturday 25 November 11-4pm

Join artist Gill Walton for a day of drop-in art activity as part of Berwick Visual Art’s Celebration of Drawing

Inspired by Charles Avery’s work in the exhibition come and create your own character and add them to our alternative version of Berwick created by local school children.

Practical Art Workshops

Conference Rooms YHA Berwick.

A series of life drawing workshops with artist Gill Walton and Prof Maria Chester, based around works in the exhibition. Each workshop will include a tour of the ‘Drawn from Life’ exhibition, followed by a practical art session

  • 14 November: Tone
  • 21 November: Proportion
  • 28 November: Abstraction
  • 5 December: Expression
  • 12 December: Abstraction

The workshops will run from 10-3 pm and can be booked separately and are £30 per person per session.
