CPD Workshop for Teachers with Zoe Childerley

A Creative Schools Cluster CPD Session for teachers and other learning professionals led by artist Zoe Childerley and inspired by her exhibition in The Granary Gallery Beyond the Pale.

Zoe will lead a tour around the exhibition which explores a narrative around territory, land and belonging on the border and beyond. It is inspired by the artist walking the length of the Anglo-Scottish border during an artist’s residency in Northumberland in 2016.

She will also run a workshop demonstrating personal mapmaking and zine making skills to use as a creative tool with your pupils and will consider how to develop your own Sense of Place project in school.

This is a chance to explore the power of maps and try out a simple and effective book making technique which can be used with pupils in the classroom. We will be making cartographic zines of your own territory, whether that be your bedroom, your street, your town or your planet. We will learn about the language of maps and how they are much more subjective than we think.

No prior experience is needed. Places are limited and must be booked, to reserve a place please email Val Tobiass, Learning and Engagement Co-ordinator, Berwick Visual Arts.

This session is supported by Northumberland Arts Development.
